Series III: "between heaven and earth"

“O misery of mankind, of how many things do you make yourself a slave for money.”

DaVinci’s statement and his drawing of Adam and Eve in the clouds watching a rain of objects fall on the earth has a contemporary feeling and message.

This image strongly affected me, as I have begun to sort and simplify the accumulation of my own life.

Therefore, I have translated DaVinci’s image into an abstraction of human beings as puppets strung between the eyes of heaven and the objects they own.

His message speaks to the addictive quality of contemporary society and our focus on consumerism. In the end, our accumulation only serves to bog us down and our objects do not provide the deeper meaning we crave.
